I think the standard four on the floor type of dance music really bites, a
lot of the time I have gone to regular clubs and just felt undernourished
by the composition and also by the lyrical content a la "ooh baby feel the
love , put your hands in the air, feel the house vibe" its pretty insulting
that people feel they can use that kind of filler to make a standard beat
last for 5 minutes and then keep it going for another hour with other
tracks pretty much the same.
I think idm is just music made by people who have made this realisation and
decided dance music doesn't really have to be dumb anymore... it can be
complex or it can be simple but it can be interesting and still be dance
music ... this is my own personal imo view of idm and does not necessarily
have to be anyone elses...
