Its good to see some detroit music given a plug on this list. Provides a bit
more balance in the larger scheme of the "idm" spectrum. Anyone who enjoys
really deep and soulful electronics fused with melodic house should
definitely check out the Moonchildren Project, another fine effort from Chris
Gray's Deep4Life imprint (www.deep4life.com).
Rick Wade's effort on the Moods & Grooves label is also a very smooth
release, with some brilliant percussive elements throughout. Rick really
knows to produce quality late nite material for that post-3am session. He
also has a release on a German label called A Touch of Class called Deep
Threats which is also on par with the MG release. Mike Grant just seems to be
churning out the gems on his label. Other releases has included himself,
Alton Miller and there is a limited KDJ which was just released very recently.
Moodyman/ KDJ, well basically pick up everything he does because this Kenny
Dixon Jnr is a genius.
Probably not so much of material that I would showcase on the program because
it is not strictly in the ambient vein, but more or less stuff which works
well in that quite lounge or small club where you just want to get into the
grooves.
