first of all...i don't consider U2 breaking any boundries with this new album. there isn't enough electronics (read: synth) to be considered anything remotely close to idm. the *new* U2 is less electronic than jesus jones, emf, early carter usm, etc. those three bands were considered popular in the early 90s. not popular as in stadium-fillers, but pretty known among people into the english scene. anyway, what i'm saying is this...the media didn't pay much attention to the electronics in jesus jones' debut cd "liquidizer", nor their sophomore effort, and not even their 3rd cd (which was absolutely incredible, imho). but now suddenly, when a band uses the slightest bit of synth, it's the *new thing*. i'm sure most of you don't care much for any of the 3 bands i listed...it's your problem...i'm just using them for comparison purposes. this "electronica" has been going on for quite some time. the media just recently discovered this. bowie's latest album is pretty darn good (again, imho). and you know what...i loved the prodigy back in '91...and still do to this day. peace... prymal p.s. anyone remember altern-8? the shamen? eskimo's in egypt? baby ford? eon? those were the days. ======== Prymal primal@interaccess.com http://www.interaccess.com/primal/ ======== A NEW JANUARY - CD debut, "Patchwork Shadows" electronic dance with a driving edge http://www.interaccess.com/primal/january/ ======== add some spice to your christ...necco wafers!
