chrome is a recently launched subsidiary of force inc./mille plateaux. it's
up to its seventh release, and its catalog already includes twelves from:
alec empire (as wipeout), khan/4E (as kerosene), si begg (as himself),
techno animal (ditto), and another group i can't remember, as well as the
two most recent singles by panacea (aka dark chrome). nowhere on either of
these releases do the words "dark chrome" appear in that order, and i don't
really know from whence the misnomer came, but they are both exquisitely
hard, over-the-top, down'n'dirty nu black-style superdark techstep. as i
said above, i think "stormbringer" is the better of the two (in fact, for
that track alone, which to my ears sounds like jungle's first megamix, with
snippets of ed rush, fierce/nico, autechre, funki porcini, zulutronic, and
godknowswhatelse all thrown in). panacea has also been in demand on the
remix tip, with recent ones including love inc. (!).

i can't tell you the artist or title since all i have is a promo, but this
is scary, warped, depressing shit. almost _too_ dark...
