Hey.. Here's the packets I've recieved the last weeks.. ------------------------------------------------------------- First Package from eight ball / empire state.. ------------------------------------------------------ Angel Moraes. - Body Work (up & down) - (empire state. (es 36)) Format: 12" 3 mixes of very cool, organ driven house. Vocal (?) mix on the a-side makes me wonder why it's called just that.. Just some short female vocal sniplets.. Dub mix on the b-side is my fav. with the body work vox sample taggin' along the organ very nice. Then there's the 3rd track which is just bonus beats. A very good record that can work great on the floors. I'll play it for sure.. Rating: ........ 8 Victor Calderone. - Give it up b/w The price of love - (empire state. (es38)) Format: 12" The AAA side's Price of love is killin' me.. Kinda tribalish circuit house (?) and it's smashin'. Hidden vocal samples and it's oh so groovey. Nice break half way, which turns it into an Armandish stylee.. "Give it up" on the AA side is also a tribal workout with a nice stab sample which will also stir up a bootyshake on the floor.. I like !! Rating: ........ 9 Shades of black. - Zip up b/w You know it. - (eight ball (eb78)) Format: 12" Oh yeeeaaahhhh !! This is my fav. trak in the package. A extreme Jazzy record, very well produced. The aaa sides You know it contains gate like jazzy samples, smoove vocals and then there's the organish chords and the trumpet.. Oh dear what a track.. (3 mixes). The AA side also contains 3 mixes. Nice jazzy bassline, good scat like vocal and tottally smashin'.. I want more.. Rating: ........ 10 World Anthem - What the worls needs. - (Eight ball (eb98)) Format: 12" 4 mixes of the what the world needs.. Kinda Junior Vasques stylee house which is not really what I like.. Guess it works great with all the Junior fans, but I think it's really boring to tell ya the truth.. A bit bad production and nothin' really going on. But hey, that's only my opinion !! Rating: ........ 5 Drinx - My best - (empire state (es37)) Format: 12" 4 tracker and I dont really know which track is which as it's a shakin' side and a stirred side!? On one side though, there's a smashin' track with nice dark organish sample and great vocals. My second fav. record in the package.. Other side contains a Ultra Flava'ish track which builds kinda the same way.. A absolute play for me this one.. Rating: ........ 9 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Second Package from steel city records, Canada. -------------------------------------------------------- Skyway - Skyway - (Steel City records. (scr108)) Format: 12" On to the techno stylee tracks. A 3 tracker from Ollie and L.O.G.M. Kinda minimal electronics, funky sometimes and kinda electroish sometimes.. This is kinda new school and tottaly ok.. Dont know if I would play it out though !! Well, maybe if the atmosphere is right, most definitive.. Rating: ........ 7 Chop Suey Peepshow - Chop Suey Peepshow - (Steel City Records (scr108)) Format: 12" A experimental release from the Probe artist Dave Foster (teste). To make it easy for me, here's how steel city explained the tracks themself :) Phong - Pure techno house. Eros - Minimal funky techhouse. Horus - Future electro space Sequin - Low end minimal morning.. Then if I agree to this or not is a totally different story.. Not really what I'm into though.. Rating: ........ 6 --------------------------------------------------------------------- 3rd package from Obscure records, New zealand. --------------------------------------------------------- Skankatronics. - Pure Wellingtronika - (obscure (cd001)) Format: CD First cd release from this new zealand label. It really took me by surprise. It starts off with the best acid tracks I've heard since the old Labworks days.. As a matter of fact, some of the tracks reminded me of the Thomas P. Heckmann live performance on my Birthday bash some years back.. :) The others styles range from downtempo spacey tracks to experimental acid etc. Very nice debute cd, try to get it if you can and if you like acid and electronics in all shapes.. Rating: ........ 9 --------------------------------------------------------------- Ok, all from me.. Over and out.. /Pat. -- BlurredDot Music. attn:Patrik Sjerén.
