i think what he was trying to say (correct me if i'm wrong) was that the average
person who spends all of their time listening to the goo-goo dolls and seven
mary three would probably hear aphex for the first time (especially some of the
stuff on RDJ) would probably just go "huh?". also, i think it's hardly fair to
say that richard's stuff contains no melodies. how about "start as you mean to
go on," or "pancake lizard," or "girl/boy," or "xtal," or... okay. you get the
picture. i think a lot of richard's stuff is *very* melodic. some isn't
necessary "melodic," but a melody for every track would just get boring anyway.
