quoted 5 lines Him - "What are you listening to?">Him - "What are you listening to?" >Me- "Autechre" >Him - "What's that? Techno?" >Me -(wincing 'cause I KNOW what he calls techno) "Well yeah...sort of...I >guess electronica is more appropriate."
This is another funny thing about the emergence of "techno" in America. Two summers ago, I spent two weeks in Marfa, Texas on holiday. [If anyone on the list knows what/where Marfa is, you can share in my misery.] I met some really attractive gal there and, upon asking me what kind of music I listen to, I told her "techno." She replied, "oh, I *LOVE* techno!" Excited and horny, I ran to the car to get my Case Logic travel pack. Inside: Prodigy - Music For a Jilted Generation Massive Attack - No Protection Orb - Orbvs Terrarvm Orbital - Diversions FSOL - Lifeforms Path 1-7 various lame compilations. I returned to her, showed her my goods, and she responded, "you don't have any 2 Unlimited?" I died.
