being a long-time resident of Merrie Olde "Anglia" and having recently been to the West of the U.S. on a couple of exploratory Field Trips, I am in a position to report that the difference would appear to spring largely from local environmental and dietary factors. My soon to be published research will reveal that during the crucial formative years the consumption of Marmite Soldiers, Heinz Baked Beans and Dairylea Cheese, washed down with Lashings of Dandelion and Burdock -- and, at a later stage, what we Social Anthropologists term "Getting Well Out Of It On Carling Black Label" -- are causally implicated in the development of that part of the neurophysiological make-up that generates the Anglo-oriented musical impulse. Trips to the Outside Toilet and late-evening stop-offs (after a trip to Blackpool) in the Austin Maestro at the Happy Eater for Welsh Rarebit are also seen as potential pre-determinants. In an ongoing complementary contrastive study, the influence of regular ingestion of Peanut Butter, Juan's refried Beans, and Monterey Jack Cheese, accompanied by Diet Coke -- and later "Getting Kinda Mellow on Oregon Raspberry Wheat Beer" -- in En-suite jacuzzis and stopping off in the Ford Taurus for Burrito-Whopper-Taco-Burgers washed down with Oreo Cookie Shakes in El Pollo Loco after a jaunt to DisneyWorld are being investigated to gauge the extent of their influence on musico-Americana. ;-) alan/beyondthebristolsound PS. Late Obvious Idm Content: can anyone remind me of the title of the new Sun Electric disc which was getting rave notices a while back here and on the Ambient-list?...
