Ha! I was wondering how I would be able to work some of my recent purchases onto idm, and this seems to be my opening. This week I got: Source Lab 2: French house, dub and jungle. Muzik magazine gave it 4th place for compilation of the year, and I think it is mega-groovy, and not cheesy at all. Global Communications: The Way/The Deep. The mags are all calling these tracks garage, but don't let that fool you, quality groovy house. New Phunk Theory: Phunk Theory Theme/Dancer (Paper Recordings) My favourite purchase of the week, (even over Boards of Canada), sexy, funky, groovy house. The Phunk Theory Theme has a killer guitar improv over some chunky chi-house beats, and an electric bass line to die for. Cine City: Are you sure Joe?/Plants, Animal, H2O (Paper Recordings) A 10" which is one side breaks, other side moderately tough house. The track names come from some great 1950's trashy sci-fi flicks samples about aliens and UFO's. Cool record, but if you have the choice go for New Phunk Theory.
