Um...I wasn't condescending. You seem awfully defensive here...sure you
don't have something to prove?

I didn't say that women couldn't understand the music, I was attempting to
explain the (alleged) lack of women on the list by saying that the nature
of the music generally appeals more to men -- the way it sounds has
traditionally drawn a male-dominated audience. Think of the concept this
way: How many men do you know that are Barry Manilow fans? Michael
Bolton fans?

Thank you for so kindly putting words in my mouth. I never said women
couldn't understand idm. I pointed out a parallel in the fact that men
are more likely to know the innards of a car, NOT because they are
smarter, but because that is a norm in our society. Women are just as
capable as men at fixing cars, they are just not as inclined to do so.

Why would anyone assume that? I was merely reporting back the statistics
that I had observed during the course of my interest in idm. I made no
statement implying that the girls I know who like idm listen exclusively
to "gentle" idm. You've conjured up this crap, making it out like I'm on
some kind of crusade to prove the superiority of the male gender, when in
fact the minds of both genders are equally evolved amd equally potentious.
]said, "Wow! Your boyfriend sure has a lot of records/cds." Perhaps
]what we should be examining is what exactly makes men think that

Perhaps you should examine why you're ready to lynch me and my entire
extended family when I make no statements defamatory of the female gender.

- this has just been my experience so far. I haven't ever met a girl
who's turned me on to new music. Probably at some point in my life it'll
happen. Right now, I'm merely one human being telling it like it is.
