I am not sure what you base this on. As far as I can tell from the shows
music stores and other places I have gone to buy or listen to IDM, most of
the people are white. Keep in mind that this is in NYC, whites are currenty
a minority in this city. Why more people of other races don't show up I have
no idea - I'm not a sociologist.
Regardless of race, MOST people are close minded about music. Anything that
strays for the norm is viewed as being some kinda freaky aberration.
It's the same with some other music genres - Metal, or the current
"Altenative/Grunge" music on the radio seem to attract a predominantly white
crowd. In clubs here in NYC that play House Music, the crowd is in definatly
not predominantly white.
Any hybred Skinhead/IDMers out there that I am not aware of?
I think if anything it's because it due to ignorance that this music even
exists. In order to listen to it you have to have a freind or something that
will expose you to it. That's what happened to me a few years back with Meat
Beat and Orb. It wasn't until I really seeked it out that I realized that
there was a hell of a lot more going on than I ever imagined.
