Where are the women?
Well, I can't speak for any but myself...but I've been mainly a
lurker/occasional poster for a good three years or so now. I feel I
have an exceptional interest in what goes on here. I have a radio
show called Prozac on WMBR, Cambridge, MA where we play many of the
very things we discuss on this list. At WMBR, I am, in fact, the
Techno/Dance/RPM director.
I would say that the thing that keeps me from posting most is the
tendency that this list has to flame opinions. I will and have posted
sheer fact and I've occasionally asked questions, but I'm very
reluctant to state my opinions here on the list. I don't fear
conflict, but I don't thrive on it the way this list seems to of late.
This list has always been a great source of information for me. I've
found that there are certain people whose specific tastes are just
like my own and I'll run out and buy a CD I've never heard of before
on the recommendation of those people. The list tells me who is
getting promotional materials and from where, which helps me make more
contacts for WMBR.
In the years that I've been on this list, I've seen the "where are the
women" question come up time and again. I don't suspect that any new
answers will be found this time around. Are we all just lurking? In
the past when this question has been asked, many have come forward to
be counted and then gone back to listening as before.
My question is...where is Tamara? Is she still out there somewhere?
