Regarding Moby. Don't believe what people say about him. They have only
heard his commercial hits like "Feeling So Real", tracks that I can
understand are a bit too dumb for an IDM-head.
But if you really get to know Moby's music, it's excellent. On the Moby
mailing list, most people like Aphex Twin so you'll probably like it too.
Moby has made music in so many different styles that there will probably be
something for everyone, and on the other hand you won't like everything by
him.
My recommendations are:
"Early Underground" -- Definitely the best techno album ever made (IMHO)
"Ambient" -- Amateurish but brilliant (IMHO)
"Demons / Horses" (as Voodoo Child) -- Two 20-minute psychedelic acid tracks
"The End of Everything" (as VC) -- Super-emotional anti-intelligent ambient
"Move" -- Best techno EP ever (IMHO)

Well, Orbital preaches sun energy on "In Sides"...I don't think there's
anything wrong with expressing your political views when you have the
chance. I would.
