no, not if the folks who wrote one of them (micros**t) are trying to subvert what may soon be a standard web-based programming language (java) and replace it with their own. the point is that it _would_ be platform independent, if micros**t could stand having a standard out there that it didn't develop. ignoring, of course, that to view pages that use the latest technology, you have to have software that can understand that technology. laps
