Party of the First Part: Does anyone have info on =Les Etoiles...,= new LP on Mille Plateaux by Alec Empire? Specifically, is it any good, what is it like, and is it coming out domestic (US) as per the contract with Grand Royal (including Digital Hard Core as well)?? The recent 7" for Grand Royal is killer, especially the B-side "22:24." Also, any Grand Royal info about past Alec Empire releases (=Generation Star Wars,= etc.) would be cool also. Party of the Second Part: Is any of the Mantronix back-catalogue available anymore (out-of-print or otherwise)?? I am interested if anyone wants to sell. Party of the Third Part: The new Doctor Rockit LP received a five (out of five) in the new issue of =Muzik.= Although I do like it, it probably deserves a three at best. The experiments are okay, and the grooves are occasionally cool, but it just doesn't have the ideas to keep it going. Forays into ambient-jazz (echoey saxophone), dubby electro, and the growing-to-be-standard Clear funk are about all it's got. Party of the Fourth Part: Picked up Gary Moscheles, and was pleasantly surprised (and yes, I did think =Groovy Beat, Ja= was a piece of easy-listening twaddle that doesn't even deserve mention from an Esquivel novelty standpoint). The EZ stuff is here as well, but "Gary" keeps an edge to the proceedings that "Jake" had going in full-effect on his first (but trailed off on the aforementioned). TOP HIGHLIGHT (And This One Will Go On My Year-End List): "Gary's House"
