FEB 14TH 2000: Wi021 PLOD - 'Pillow Talk' It's about music. It's about the north. It's about warm melodies. It's about being tired of noise. It's about ideas. It's about two guys from the hardcore capital of Sweden. It's about sailing the seas of cheese. It's about loving the gentle. It's about selected ambient works. It's about fuck the system. It's about The Boss. It's about to stop playing eurodisco. It's about buying a Roland D-20 instead of a moped. It's about far too many months. It's about selling the guitar to a cousin. It's about not being djs and aiming at the dancefloor. It's about the internet and the hyperreal idm mailinglist. It's about a childhood of Nintendo and C-64. It's about Plod. "Pillow Talk" is the first album outlet from the lappish twomanorchestra Plod. Having played in different constellations, from punk to synth, Erik Hedin and Franz Enmark in 1996 decided to throw all the less successful projects out the window and focus on Plod. With a sense for melodies, warmth and harmony, four demos were released before the melodic wizards of the north captured the attention of the prolific london-based Worm Interface-label. "Markkinal" off "O'boy" was included next to artists like Autechre and Freeform on the "Alt Frequencies 3" compilation (Worm Interface, 1999) and that's when things began to happen for real. One and a half year later and the debut album is finished. Containing ten tracks recorded in Umeå, north Sweden, "Pillow Talk" is surely one of the most melodic and calm electronic albums you are likely to hear in the 2K (it has already entered the Swedish National Radio January Top-5 Chart (Calle Dernulf)). Plod tries to capture the extensive landscape of the north and dress up intricate beat science in beautiful, haunting meodies. They are obviously not impressed by the sonic trickery and audial pisstakes as heard in much of the current experimental electronic music. "Pillow Talk" is an album composed for lazy sundays or long rides in the convertible. "Pillow Talk" is your friend in the CD-player when reading, when hungover or when chatting with your loved one before falling to sleep. "Pillow Talk" is an hour of truly emotional Swedish electronica. Erik and Franz have already crawled into their Coldfeet Studio to work on their next release. Some Plod info: 1997 "Backgammon" (MC) is released and is played frequently on the Swedish national radio. 1998 The debut CD "O'boy" is released and recieves worldwide attention. 1998 "Markkinal" is included on the Worm Interface compilation "alt.frequencies 3" 1999 "Eucalyptus" is included on the RUC compilation "Granit CD01". 1999 "Eucalyptus" and "Paket" are included on the Worm Interface ambient-project "Volume Transmissons" 2000 Plod has a remix of "Posören" on the Electromagnetic Beam EP "Arne Sand" (10", M2, Slask/Mjäll) 2000 "Pillow Talk" is released on CD through Worm Interface Recordings 2000 "Om man blås dom i nosa så nys dom" is included on the "alt.frequencies 4" compilation (Worm Interface) There is an MP3 up at www.worminterface.com/mp3s/ and you can buy the album online at www.worminterface.com/shop/
