Mike D didn't say this stuff was "somehow better or above all the rest" because of this similarity, he said that the similarity was why he was attracted to it, which seems perfectly understandable to me. I'm sure he'd be horribly disappointed to hear that his personal reasons for liking this music aren't a good enough reason for you -- after all, it *is* everyone else's responsiblity to run the reasoning behind their musical tastes past you for your approval.
