Well
a good topic for the locals of So Cal.
Unfortunately, I have never listened to his show Metropolis,
so I can't comment on that! I discovered Bruno's show on
KCRW last Dec when home for the holidays as I was trying to
find a station with the NPR news on it. I was thrilled to
hear what he was playing. THe next week, I bought 5-6 Quango
releases!
I don't know what his OLD Metropolis show was like, nor his
KROQ show. I hate KROQ so I don't give them my ear no matter
who is on the radio. IF Poorman came back to LOVELINES I'd
listen again!
SO jason doesn't dance to his music. Uh, first of all its
not HIS music. He's not an artist, just a DJ/label
owner.Second, whether or not he dances to the music should
not be the focal point of his worth. If he sucks as a DJ so
be it, IMHO all Dj's are lame b/c they are worshipped by so
many rave kids for doing virtually nothing. Kids are paying
more for DJ mixtapes than we pay for the latest FSOL.
However, I think the Quango comps should be given much
credit. If it were not for the Quango Taste of Pork CD I
would have discovered Pork at a much later date than I did.
To be honest I think I was one of the First people on this
list to mention PORK to the list a year ago. Quango is a
great label for the fact that they try to cover all types of
dance music. Try Quango SPORT for feel-good jungle, or that
Global... for housey stuff, they even have a Carribean
sounding release that is dancey. Quange covers a wide
spectrum of sounds my friends. I read recently that they are
going to begin looking to release full-lengths by artists.
This will be extremely interesting in my opinion.
ONE thing I thought everyone here would get a kick out of is
that when I listen to Bruno's show "Short Wave" on KCRW he
often says things like "... bringing you the best in
INTERNATIONAL DANCE MUSIC...." or something to that effect.
Hmmmmm... wonder where he came up with International Dance
Music? Sounds familiar, eh
just my opinions, btw when is his Metropolis show (now that
it sucks I wanna hear it)
