I picked up a promo copy of Astralwerks "Detroit: beyond the third wave" today. It was in the used section for 2 bucks, sealed. So I'm listining to it and thinking "well it's ok". A lot of Detroit techno has always been a little too much like house music for my tastes. Track 6 comes up, Ectomorph 'Insert Another Data Disk', a nice little electro ditty, very old school. Now I'm happy. So I get to the next track, 'life on tek' by Will Web and hear that song with the little arpeggio that was under the "solarized" cartoon bumpers on AMP. A pretty cool song, got a little "funky" sample in it and LOTS of bass. As you can tell, I'm a sucker for breaks, anykind. Which brings me to the question: Being that I got a promo, it has no artist info on it...Who is Will Web and Ectomorph...I know I've heard of the later, just can't place it. Over all I like this comp. I'm going to track down a copy of it on wax. Also picked up the 'Werks like a 12"' mix cd today. Sounded good, but I wasn't really paying much attention to it...thinking about work! tre up, brock NP: Cabaret Voltaire: Plasticity "what's a gat?"..."it's a gun"
