I think it's a corker, in that familiar naive style. Someone complained about being left wanting more - isn't that a good thing? Everyone seems to have forgotten when a song over 4 minutes was considered long. Plus, another entertaining Rephlex cover. Whilst catching up on some older stuff, I also managed to find the HIA/Biosphere collaboration. It's _quite good_ - mixture of beatless/beatful semi-ambient. But hold on, it's only 57 minutes - what a rip-off! Big Chill: I quite enjoyed it, although perhaps the music was in general a little disappointing. Squarepusher was godd in spurts but he only had 1 DAT player and started pissing about, thus losing the crowd who were "well up for it". The dancers were a bit of a mistake, as well - presumably brought on so the camera crew actually had something to film. HIA was good - always better live; Freeform - better than the last time but he still selects odd tracks for live sets - monster Pyke take on d&b, though. Andrea Parker - went on an Aphex mission - J5, Girl/Boy and several tracks from the new album - not loud enough. Wishmountain - best performance of the w/e (i.e. only _performer_ in the strictest sense). Global Communication - very disappointing DJ-set. Ninja Tune - excellent sets but didn't think much of the Herbaliser live experience. Twisted Science - good and interesting - but hard to concentrate on at 2pm whilst reading the Guardian. Being - good. Sadly I had to leave on Sunday before zoviet-france and Autechre. Apparently SKAM will be starting up the Versivo nights again at the Roadhouse in Manchester from November - including (maybe) Autechre, Plaid and Locust performing live.
