8BS is the small group (well, compared to the Shadow Vignettes) project of
Ed Wilkerson, who teaches composition at the AACM. I dunno, something
about the phrase "AACM-styled avant-garde jazz octet on Thrill Jockey"
conjures up the same imagery as "Berkelee-schooled musician" (no offense
to any listmembers or Juliana fucking Hatfield).
