It is, isn't it? It gets even better: the sample in the Source Direct track has been slightly sped up compared to the Aphex original. Always on the look out for cosmic constants, I samples the bits of both, and worked out the time-stretch ratio to go from the Aphex bit to the SD sample. Guess what?? 1,298701298701!!! Which is nearly exactly 1 / 0.77; and 77 being the Warp catalogue number of the Woodenspoon 12", I therefore MUST conclude that Woodenspoon is in fact Source Direct. Now, this.. Er... didn't spot that one, so this one must be even more obvious (we're talking about a track from Logical Progression, yes?). But - hey - when SAW II came out I hated it for the lack of beats, so maybe that's why I don't mind a bit of obvious sampling. Damn, I just checked the SAW II tracklisting - I was kinda hoping it would a sample be from either "Weathered stone" or "Stone in focus", you know, SD being really clever boys and calling their track STONEkiller and all?? Geddit? Geddit?? Oh, never mind... Maarten, feeling somewhat boring on now: Disco Inferno - Technicolour
