Well, we DO expect "cutting edge" techno from RDJ & Mike P. (at least I do). So if it actually IS cutting edge, then it's also what we expected, which makes it not what it is (or something).

U.F.Orb has a track consisting only of the sound of an elephant having a shit - bet you didn't diss that album when it came out.

What, no two year wait? Cool! * Scene 1 * Setting: modest living room, suburb. TV shows cricket testmatch with sound low. Man sits in chair reading newspaper, lightly nodding his head to sound of new Orbital album playing on stereo mini tower in the corner. Wife sits on couch, restlessly leafing through copies of Muzik, NME, Jockey Slut, Smash Hits, Option, The Wire and Melody Maker, frown getting deeper all the time. wife: >everyone realise that they can't argue with RDJ - man: mmm-mm wife: >you should really coun't your blessings that you are alive at the moment to witness the legend first hand. man: mmmmmm wife: >If you think that I over-rate him as the most important figure in contemporary techno... (man snorts loudly; starts picking nose) .. then go and buy some happy hardcore or something. man is silently reading paper wife: john? man: mm-mmmmm wife: john, are you listening? man: yes darling, ofcourse (turns page; resumes reading) wife: john, as I was saying... man: mmm-mmm Cut to TV screen: program has changed to TOTP where Gary "Take That" Barlow performs his first solo single. Rows of little girls scream, laugh, cry and faint. **End scene 1**

Like Cunt and Phlaps? Like, REALLY intelligent dance music. The first two Caustic Window 12" both had some very silly songs - a lot more silly than the stuff on Mike & Rich's album. What early stuff anyway? There's not two records that sound the same.
