Herbert "100 Lbs" phonoCD1
I'm suprised no one else has jumped up for this one yet. Super super
cool, smooth 4AM house grooves, check the 'Girl From Ipanema' sample.
And since this is matthew herbert, the man from Wish Mountain, the
house music here is made with common household appliances. This is nothing
earth shattering -- he samples sounds like clanking jars together and
scraping a spoon across the bottom of a frypan, and uses them as percussion
samples. But it does give some freshness to a genre totally dominated
by the 909.
It's been a long time since I've heard a record that was so musical, dance
floor friendly and cunningly constructed. This one deserves to be hyped
to the skies.
