Since I started that thread I guess I'll have to follow up. I did
it for a laugh. It's fun and the whole family can play. I don't see

You have to put that into the UK context. Jungle, House, and Techno
are mainstream youth culture. It's dance music. Sad to say, a lot
of IDM (I'm really beginning to hate that tag) isn't particularly
danceable, or doesn't fit into a dj format. So clubland ignores it.
Actually I started out listening to more ambient dreamy stuff, and any
more it's gotta have some kick to it. In fact the first AFX I bought
was 'Quoth' and I remember being frankly horrified by it. Now it's
beauty to me.

Genre wars are always more about kids taking their identities from their
scenes than about music. Once you are old enough to know who you are
independent of whose tour TShirt you happen to be wearing, it seems
really really silly and immature.
