(1) is beautiful, with lots of nice arpeggiating synths and a great
1991-era Orb beat underneath. the vocals are heart-wrenchingly gorgeous.
unfortunately it's also the shortest of the electronic versions. (2) is
exactly what you would expect - just voices. the "ambient mix" (3) is not
very ambient; it has a pulsating transformed synth line and Orb-y
percussion that reminds me of "star 6 & 7 8 9". the vocals are diced up
and used as pads and effects more than straight lyrics. very nice. (4) is
a longer, less tripped out, more solidly beat-oriented version of (3).
a really wonderful single. i'm a sucker for dance tracks with beautiful
female vocals anyway, and this is definitely in the top 1%. start poring
through the used bins, you may stumble across a copy.
