Frequencies is about the most definitive musical statement I can think of offhand. The bleep style just about died right when it was released, for obvious reasons (it's like a friend of mine used to say, if you can't do better than Tolstoi, why bother writing a novel?). Other records worth checking out in a similar style, though, include Sweet Exorcist's 'CCCD' (now out on midprice on Warp, after I spent years looking for it), Cabaret Voltaire's 'Colours,' the first Nightmares on Wax album, and (of course) Warp's first compilation, 'The Pioneers of the Hypnotic Groove.'
