A casio synth does not have the desirability of a 303 (say), but if you
take time, put in effort, you can get something original, which doesn't conform
to the usual, tired, cliches.
It's an obvious point, but the way you use your equipment if you record is
far more important than what equipment you have. There is a real risk that
a particular synth or beatbox can be seen as the musician rather than the musician themself. I don't care what gear luke vibert or AFX use- they get great
sounds out and that's all that cares.
