Erm, well, does it matter what they file it under? As long as they have it? I was just there 3 days ago. I could have easily dropped $100+ on "IDM" stuff if I'd felt like it, but I don't do that sort of thing anymore. What they had: - A separate bin for Clear with the Gregory Fleckner Quintet 12", quite a few copies of the Plaid 12", and the Gescom "... Parents ... " 12" (threw this back; it's mostly good but I was on a money spending limit) - A separate bin for Warp with the Disjecta 12" (bought that one, sorry, all gone now) and some other things I've forgotten - LFO "Advance" on vinyl I think (they also had the Warp "Tri Repetae" on CD in another area) - An "Experimental" bin as you said, with random experimental/IDM/whatnot labels thrown in together (e.g.: RePHLeX, Reflective, Plug Research, a few others). This bin had the Kinaesthesia "Empathy Box" remix 12" (I threw that one back, not a high enough hit/miss ratio), a copy of the Future Sounds label comp., the "South Of Market" 12" on Reflective, a couple other Reflective releases (I remember a green 12" ... maybe REF 002, the Subtropic "Throb" EP), and a couple of Plug Research releases (like the recent 4 track 12" compilation in neat-o marble vinyl). Oh yeah, and they also threw the Carl Craig "DJ Kicks" one-sided 12" in there for good measure (it's really good, but I ain't payin' $10 for a one-sided record, no way Jose') - The Panasonic multiple-10" box set was behind the counter, gathering dust (Damn, some of that thing is really great, and some of it is total pointless crap ... a whole side of a record with nothing on it but the sound of a record needle hitting the inner groove runoff? C'mon guys ... ) - Not that this is IDM-specific but they had a tiny Transmat bin with copies of "Strings Of Life" on "Transmat Classics" pressings ... More than enough IDM to suit me, anyway. I ended up buying the Disjecta 12" (OK, so it sounds like Aphex a bit, byte me) and the "True People" Detroit comp. on CD.

How come? Most people *escape* from Coastal Misery, not go back to it after college is over ;-) OnNow: Joy Division "Unknown Pleasures" (The GREATEST record EVER MADE! Even better than PRINCE and CHICK COREA! <*evil grin*>) - Greg
