I just got back yesterday from a week in LA. Aided by Lazlo's Guide to LA
Record Shopping and Tamara Palmer, I found my way to just about all of
the major shops. My personal findings: Arons was the place to go for new
music. I bought plenty of new vinyl there including a couple of LP's on
Rather Interesting, the Funkjazztical Tricknology comp on Ninja Tune and
an EP on Skam (though my prize find was Coldcut's "Whats That Noise?" in one
of the used bins for 99cents).
----->>I went to the Aron's "Parking Lot Sale" on Sunday (March 31st),
and found Coldcut's "What's That Noise" on CD for $2! (sorry Tam).
As for record shopping in L.A., be willing to spend a full day hitting
every store you can find, living in the used bins. I find more material
in the used bins than in the new bins. Aron's is quite cool, but don't
shop there, for I am greedy, and I want all the cool records to myself. ;)
