I'd like to add that I've seen some pretty amazing shit done by a CDDJ who knows how to finger fuck a top end player. I have mad respect for that skill, as much as I do for the likes of the turntable damagers. So long as the various mediums exist it will be a good dj's responsibility to enamor them all. In the future we can all look forward to a *real* end to this debate, which in turn would leave us more time to talk about what really matters, the music. Hot stuff in the PO Box today.... NON-conformism Mixed by Matt Lehrer 2/96 This is one name I'll be excited to see on flyers up around these parts when the flavor revolution moves into full swing (suckers are you ready to reckon with the FORCE?) I digress. First up, for the quick to judge (ie. shallow), Matt's got the skills to pull it all together just fine AND more importantly he's pound for pound down with the high quality sounds which we grace with the term "music". Not a millisecond of commercial (you know EXACTLY the shit I'm talking about and we won't have any of it here) and a plentitude of smooth intelligent oscillating engaging out there techno. Book his ass 718-423-9508. Emergent Behavior The Axy Jeeb Sessions So I guess Kent Williams finally broke down and bought that echoplex down at the local pawn shop in Coralville, Iowa. Either that or some guy named Mike's been sewing his brainwaves with a modular synth. Iowa! What else can you do besides add to your gear and work on your own definition of IDM? Anyhow, the latest piano rolls named Axy Jeeb #1, #2 (geetar mix), #3 (fast mix), #3 (slow mix), #3 (rings of saturn mix) are without a doubt the most user friendly and clearly defined pieces of electronica. EB style is hard to describe (partly because it's foremost diverse), but key words are intricate, eccentric, acidic but not necessarily in a 303 sense of the word. What's pleasantly apparent here is the solid electronic musical range across each "mix". My tape also came rounded out with a track called _Jam X_ "...a pisstake recorded with my brother Ian on guitar" which strikes through some of the most ingenious, and perhaps what may turn out to be Kent's gift, IDM. Thanks guys! Teep<--swimming in the piss take streams attn matt, I want a tracklist pronto! aran parillo | PO box 581 | cambridge ma | 02142 | usa | aran@mit.edu
