I suppose representing the African continent as I do, I should at
least supply some kind of information toward this thread -
Thus let me tell you to try to lay your hands and weave your ears
around Amampondo - also known as Amampondo Drummers.
They are a big group of musicians who play polyrhythmic beats on
marimbas (big wooden "pianos" that are percussive instruments,
like large scale xylophones) and a variety of drums.
They bring a lot of energy to a live experience; to my mind this
does not always translate quite so well to the recorded media but if
you're unable to catch a show, the next best thing is a recording.
If anybody's really keen, I can find out details of releases etc.
