1. Concerts mixed with raves *are* very possible. Witness the Freaky
Chakra/Single Cell Orchestra tour, which stopped in SoCal at the Ventura
Theatre. Great space, great show. Or Orbital at the Shrine for Millenium
II.
2. While the Troubadour is a surprising choice, it's no entirely idiotic.
Let's forget its hair farmer heritage for a second, and consider the
alternatives. Dragonfly? The main room is too small. Palace? Too large
(unless Autechre can draw 1,500 people.) Same goes for the Shrine. The
Alligator Lounge? Not a bad idea. House of Blues? The security can be a
bitch, and dealing with the club management can be extremely annoying.
Roxy/Whisky? Gimme a break. What's left? Hollywood Moguls wouldn't be bad.
But LunaPark? Any night I can avoid going to that stuffy,
industry-infested, elitist yuppie-hang is a good night.
3. I don't care where they're playing, as long as they're happy with their
accomodations. That's what counts here. As long as the club
management/sound people/security people treat them right, then we'll all be
treated to a wonderful night.
