--I agree with most of your recommendations.. but.. -- -- jM> slowdive - pygmalion -- --Did you ever heard the 5ep ?? It's LOTS AND LOTS better than the album. There --is also a remix EP of this (called In Mind remixes), with a Reload --(Pritchard --+Middleton) mix and a Bandulu mix. Both EP's are really --great stuff. i don't have the 5ep because i didn't buy it. i listened to it in the store and compared to techno artists (by this i mean artists who only do that crunchy yummy idm stuff) i thought it was severely lacking. are the 5ep tracks the four that are tacked onto the end of the u.s. souvlaki? if so i find them merely ok, but not really up to par with more mindblowing idm. slowdive was always much better at the 'eyes-half-closed mumbling stoned sensual guitar wash' than at anything other type of music imo (souvlaki is a masterpiece, mojave 3 is nice and mellow but a few of the songs on that album need work.) that's not to say that pygmalion doesn't have its merits; on the contrary, i like this lp a whole lot because it has this thick mood to it and the occasionally overused musical ideas cum songs on that album somehow still blend into an entrancing and yes ambient whole. it's perfect rain music; i haven't listened to it for a few months because it hasn't really rained here in a few months. :( maybe after i read more film class homework tonight i'll have to put it on. i'm a adoring fan of reload/global comm/link but alas, i never could find the in mind remixes *sniff* yours in bleary-eyed just woke up-ness and barely-relevance, .j. --- joroses@mail.utexas.edu http://ccwf.cc.utexas.edu/~joanna andover '94 - Syndicated columnist Dave Barry says that "those weird string of letters that have started showing up everywhere in newspaper stories, advertisements, TV shows, etc., the ones that look like http//www/clamsucker.doo.wah" are "code instructions to Dan Rather from his home planet."
