On first listen...
these two CDs
Freeform: Elastic Speakers (worm Interface WI02)
Octagon Man: The Exciting World of... (electron industries tron 5x)
are both very exciting IDM.
Both give me just what I like:
_minimal but beautiful melodies
_lots of bleepiness
_mutated Detroitisms
_intermittent ambient stretches
_some dubby beaty material
_electro content
_dancefloor savvy (for an unknown intergalactic club)
Both would immediately be in my Top 10 for 1995.
What's the scoop on these artists?
Also worth hearing:
Collaborations: Lo Recordings: Vol 2---collabs between such
luminaries as Scanner and David Cunningham, Funki Porcini and Mike
Flowers Pop (?)---its got some tr*p h*p and other forms of
unconventional dance music. I like it.
Full Moon Scientist:The Shrub-A-Dub EP --- Dubby trippy stuff with
the occasional cooing reggae-ish vocal. Similar to Rockers Hi-Fi
imo. I like it.
I hope this helps. Happy New Year.
Incidentally, if anyone wants to come to the New Orleans area and
establish an IDM club, its wide open.
