Two words: fucking gorgeous. Just as I thought this sub-genre was
disappearing up its arse, thanks to the million and one Autechre
emulators, along comes Arovane to shift the goal posts.
65 minutes of delicate melodies, soundscapes, edgy ambience and
digital manipulation. If I had to compare it to something, imagine a
cross between Michael Fakesch's "Marion" and Bola's "Soup". But I
don't really want to -- "Atol Scrap" trandscends such comparisons.
Also picked up the double "Clicks and Cuts" release. Just given it a
brief skim through -- I'll give it some proper attention later. Sounds
very interesting though. Sort of the next step on from Aphex's SAW2.
