Well, letsee, Abe Duque has his own label called Tension records. They're
out of Hollis, QUEENS! The label has been around for roughly two years now
and has at least 8 releases that I can think of to it's name. There are also
sub-labels called Rancho-Relaxo (dedicated for more interesting electronic
doodling) and Hollis Haus (take a wild guess). Abe's style varies greatly.
He bangs the cid on some releases, but goes in *completely* difierent
directions in another. He's even done some remixes for Program 2 (Una, if
I'm not mistaken). I believe the release with Sahko was part of an exchange
program where the Sahko folks released a record on Tension and in return,
Abe would release a record on Sahko. Highly recommended if your thing is
minimal strips of music dropped into black space. : )
In any case, I've been waiting two years for him and his label to "blow up"
in a big way. All he needs is a little something I can't put my finger on.
Speaking of good new labels, anyone pick up the new Ersatz record?
