got the new electronic eye yesterday. 2x12". 10 songs me thinks. i've only
listened to it once, but my first impression is very positive.
"idea of justice" is quite a bit different from closed circuit. there are
virtually no ambient tracks on this new one. almost every track is a
stomper. still very trancy but with a much harder techno sound than the
first album. kirk uses alot more samples on "idea." both vocal and music
samples are abundant, and his obsession with funk and soul is just running
rampant on this record. it works. it's a lot more straight forward than his
other stuff but he still manages to pull those amazing rhkirk sounds out of
his ass.
there is also a new sandoz record coming out in the near future. anyone got
any info?
i also picked up the new cocteau twins ep yesterday. for those of you who
don't know, all 4 tracks were re mixed by mark clifford of seefeel. there
are two new songs (forgot the names) and two old'uns. cherry colored funk
and feet like fins. sound like seefeel songs with liz frazier vocals over
top. good but nothing unexpected. very nice bass (as we've come to expect
from mr. clifford) so it's worth getting on vinyl.
over.
out.
rex.
