The only local female dj that I know about and have heard happens to play a good deal of idm and seems to spin smoother than most of the local male dj's I've heard, actually. She has probably had to practice more to deal with the BS in the local club/rave scene, which has lot of macho losers. Unfortunately, I think a lot of the socialized crap about men being better with machines, etc crap probably alienates women who are into mixing, scratching, and even programming. I bet idm would be totally more interesting and progressive if some of the (female)fans I know would get involved in making it... but there is so little encouragement, and they have to filter out the attention that they get just for *being* female and not for being dj's/whatever. I've played music with women in bands, etc, and they were forever trying to be acknowledged for their music and not their...etc David Chandler - chandler@nethost.multnomah.lib.or.us (503)301-3011 grep -i casio goodwillbins >> mystudio ; grep -i atari goodwillbins >> mystudio ;
