Patrick Pulsinger - Porno (Disko B)
-----------------------------------
This has been around for some weeks, but I've only just had a chance to
listen to it properly. It's a comparitively short 8-track LP, and shows off the
nastier, seedier side of Pulsinger's musical personality. With the exception of
the spooky musique-concrete soundscape of 'District' (which calls to mind
Aphex's track on TEX 1), the 11-minute 'Care', and the beautiful, downtempo
closing track, 'Reflections' (which is the closest material to 'Claire' on the
album) the rest of the tracks basically fall into the hard, pulsing techno camp
- experimental analogue jams. It grew on me with repeated listening.
Ifach Volume 1 (Ifach)
----------------------
Peter 'Baby' Ford's label has been quietly putting out top-notch intelligent
techno for some time now, and this first compilation makes some of the best
tracks available to a wider audience. The minimal packaging doesn't reveal who's
responsible for each track, just the titles, but Ford and Mark Broom are
invloved in the majority of them. I haven't listened enough to be able to pick
favourites, but 'Space 4-2' and 'Invisible Companions' are excellent...
See ya
