Third Electric-1983-Electrechord records 100
I am pretty sure this is the first release on a new label out of Germany,
this record being heavy on the electro tip. A side 1983 is a smooth
electro acid trancer sounds like a early morning cut; nice. B side has 2
cuts first one being a minimal electro ditty with a lot of kicks and
pings and some scratching, not too bad. My pick is the 2nd cut on the
b-side which has a freaky noise and and some heavy flange while a monster
beat keeps the cut moving, good shit.
Dj Fresh vs. Walker-Stop-Analog records #16
On one of my favorite labels of late, Freddie Fresh is putting out some
killer shit. When he is not delivering pizzas, this guy makes some
excellent techno. The logo side has a monster electro number with some
serious distortion and bass, sorta like those shark trax on djungle
fever/rising high...Then there is a low beat electronic "trip hoppy" type
of deal...the other side has a funky techno cut with what I believe is
Mc Bain (the Schwartzeneger character) on the Simpsons saying "stop
talking crazy", this side also has three other cuts, one which is sort of
a remix of the "Stop talking crazy cut", very nice shit at a nice price.
Analogical-Bubbles-Djax records
If you like cold, souless, alien sounding music than this record is for
you. Very headfuck material, i like it in small doses but too much and
my head starts to hurt. Good one to scare the shit out of people.
The morning glory seeds-Sightings-100% Pure records
This is a low beat experimental four tracker that is real dark and out
there, a few of the tracks are dead ringers for some of Aphex Twin's
recent shit (distorted funky slow beat and the haunting keyboard).
Beware of the bass on this shit.
Elements-Nuclear Winter-Collective Recordings
This is another weird record that will probably be ignored, the a side
has a deep acid trancer that is pretty hard and dark, not really my cup
of tea but not bad. Then the b-side has a tribally acid thing that is
pretty good. 2nd cut on the b-side is my favorite "Acid Scooter" is the
name and it is in the same style as Gak or NOW Dextourous, the choppy
sort of electro bass heavy beat that you either love or hate.
Zulutronic-Zulutronic-Pharma records 001
This is the first record on Biochip C's new electro label, great start!
Pressed on green vinyl this six tracker, has some pretty wacked out wild
ass electro type experimentation with some wacky scratching, and some
outer space sound effects flying in and out of the mix. Nice.
Dusk-Aquarian Project-Peacefrog records
The a side "Shadow Boxer" is a fucking monster jam. Take a old school
break beat chop it up with a lot of delay and effects and a distorted
beat underneath and then add a beautiful melody that sounds like an 808,
and you have one serious percussive overload that stands heads above the
rest. Very well produced unlike a lot of that Peacefrog stuff.
Nurse City and G 104-Kerosene and crucified (Bassphemic village)-Pharma
records 002
The second release on what looks to be a very promising label. Pressed
on white vinyl this has big hip hop beats with electronic wackiness,
making a real nice combination. There is even a cut that samples Juan
Atkins to pretty great effect. I don't understand why labels like Clear
get so much hype when shit like this is just as good, and it is
criminally ignored.
Nigel Richards-611 groove-Stickman records
This is an excellent domestic 12" by a one of the better (imho) dj
producers in the us. The a side " I like It" is a funky acid ditty with
"I like it" samples and nice melodys and production. The second side on
th b-side is my favorite cut "Shu Dee Bop" which has a filtered sample
that gets tweaked with (kinda like bang the box) which sounds like
someone is saying "should we drop?" while a real nice low acid? line (you
know the kind that sounds like a buffallo farting) pumps in
the background. This is powerful shit.
Feedback or flames welcomed.
