Kimball Deckard - Hardlife ... PositiVibes ========================================== What can I say about this tune. About the best American import your going to hear this summer; and , if my memory serves me correctly, featured on the much revered Paul Oakenfold 'Goa' mix from Radio One. A stomping trance workout with a gorgeously melodic break on the A-side with a deeper, more involved mix on the B-side. Virus - Sun ...Perfecto ======================= A spankingly good tune that featured on the Paul Oakenfold 'Goa Mix' on Radio One, and has only just decided to rear it's head in this format. The mix featured on radio was of course the Oakenfold / Osborne mix ( no self promoting nepotism there then ! ). Although the best is undoubtedly the Jam El Mar mix which rips along at an unrelenting pace with interwoven melodies and wild acid. a splendid buy for those intense moments. This also includes a deeper 'Man With No Name' mix. Nox Alba - Mambo White ...Slate =============================== Originally released from the continent early last year on 21st Century Records this whistled through our shop at a rate of knots. It makes a welcome return in it's new format and on a British label featuring a Baby Doc remix and a KGB Party mix, as well as the lovingly Balearic Ibiza Sunrise mix and the original ( which is still great ). Forgive my ignorance but I don't actually know who 'Baby Doc' is and would appreciate some enlightenment as I am rapidly becoming a BIG fan of his work. Anyone admiring the talents of the aforementioned artist could do a lot worse than obtaining this, as it is his inimitable style, grace, and a perfect blend of melody and power that is brought to this mix. The KGB mix has less urgency about it, and rolls along quite nicely in no hurry to get anywhere in particular. For this reason I find it quite refreshing. Though not as much so as the Ibiza Sunrise Mix. Typical Balearic beats washed with a Spanish guitar line designed to whisk you away and almost make you believe your drifting in the sea amongst the sea-weed at Playa Den Bossa after a particularly HARD morning in Space. Virtual Obsession - Before Dawn / SFX - Y Salem...Symbiosis ============================================================ An EP of 2 tracks taken from the double CD compilation on 'Smart' records called 'Trust In Trance'. This can only be described as hard ambient trance ( for want of a pigeon hole ). It really defies explanation; suffice it to say I wouldn't be expecting any better from the likes of Vangelis or Tangerine Dream. Have I said enough ? This is definitely a label to watch for as their other release that I am in possession of , "Placid" by Stanley Shanti And The Chillum Wallahs ( no drugs involved there ! ), is also approaching perfect trance and definitely intelligent dance. If you miss these it will end in tears. * Extract from our On-Line record store, Zanzibar Records, at * "A Cyborgs Eye View".
