I just got done listening to a three foot stack of records, here is what
I found to tickle my fancy:
U.S. Domestics:
R.E.A.L.M.-Wrench ep-Sublime records
This record is fucking awesome! Talk about some serious distorted
electro rythyms, and a serious groove, this is out there in space but the
beats are so killer....many changes and very complex shit going on! I
love shit like this! Liscenced from Plug research, does anybody know who
Plug research is?
Freddie Fresh-Comatone 95-Electric Music Foundation records
This 4 tracker on urine colored vinyl is excellent! Slow death is my
favorite track, pretty slow stutter beat kind of electro beat with a 303
and a nice flow...then in comes this absolutely haunting U-ziq type of
melody that is very very powerful, a very heavy synth sound that just
rings and gets stuck in your head....powerful shit!
Alienage-Abduction ep-Gargoyle records
This is an interesting looking record, blue and white lava lamp type of
effect. Another electro type of record kind of on the commercial tip,
and somewhat housey but still pretty good. First cut on the written
side is a RAC sounding electro cut, second cut is a tribal deep housey
kind of classic detroit bleepy cut....the other side is a pretty
comercial rave type of thing but still is pretty damn original sounding
with the keyboard sound....the last 2 cuts are nothing special. Not the
best thing in the world but pretty good, and it is a domestic in the U.S.
Dj Pierre-Spank Spank Groove-Strictly Rythym
Strictly Rythym? I don't usually like that label at all but it seems
some of their newer releases are getting heavy on the 303 and mucho more
underground. This cut falls into that category. Excellent acid house
that pumps in and out, this has a 303 that throbs like a finger that
has been hit with a sledgehammer. This ranks way up there on my list of
all time favorite acid cuts.
Imports
Bhasmantam-Black Hills-Muzak records
This song Black Hills clocks in at over nine minutes and is a very thick
tribal trancer (THIS IS THICK) which again has an excellnet groove that
would be well suited for a outdoor full moon pagan ceremony by a huge
fire or something. The beats are very layered and textured and complex.
Extemely psychedelic! The other tracks could be classified of some sort
of Goa style hypno acid trance. With a song called "The Hawcks eat the
Amphetamine Reptiles" you gotta know these guys aren't fucking around.
