playing Steve Reich 4 Sections in the Big Chill,Green Field 6 am

Kenny Larkin turning up just in time to play last ...
Megadog stiltwalkers especially the Bee with outsized genitalia
introducing The Prodigy to 100,000 screaming lunatics ....
lowpoints :
15 power failures on main stage
too many boring indie bands all day
CS gas in the dance tent

losing half the things you were given!!
having to leave(!)
too many people!!
anyway back to the topic on hand ...
The idm/jungle interface continues to grow with three HUMUNGOUS records
that are essential purchases got anyone into the cutting edge ...
all three involve the awesome LUKE VIBERT ...
1) TWO PLAYER-Extreme Possibilities (Ninja Tune)
a kind of supergroup here - Daniel Pemberton (Fax), John Tye (MLO),
Boymerang (Bark Psychosis offshoot), Paul Thomas (Kiss FM) and the
Vibert man
12" has four mixes including two outstanding junglist excursions
2) PLUG 1 and Plug 2 (Rising High)
Two long eps full of the most fucked up drum and bass lunacy you
have ever heard
like Frank Zappa and Goldie playing laser quest inside a Cray mainframe
warning - this will damage your brain
3) New Wagon Christ single on Rising High has a jungle mix by our
old friend
Richard D James, and it is A KILLER. Its one of the tracks from
Throbbing Pouch
track C2 i think? - sound like morricone over phat beats - now it
sounds like Morton
Subotnick and Mark Stewart on heavy tryptamines ..... indescribable
I'd love to hear whether DJs are playing this stuff!! it sure is
extreme .....
also very interesting ... 4 HERO & GERALD white label cool jazzy
techno suprise!
also GERALD vs FLORA PURIM yes the amazing Brazilian jazz singer
returns with
a cool mix from Gerald also strangeness from Attica Blues
interesting stuff ...
GOLDIE LP is pretty good but he didn't really pull it off at
Glastonbury ...
jungle ideas are permeating all levels of techno in the uk at last
... look out for
anonymous avant-junglisms from most of the UKs top techno acts in
months to come!!
Chameleon and DNote, Plaid and Vibert, Boymerang and Laswell, all
the left wing of techno are
getting into jungle in a big way..
In fact you could set up a book on who's next to suprise the world
with a jungle excursion ..
2/1 Juan Atkins - already working with Dego for R&S, this is going
to be a biggie
3/1 Underworld - there are several Jungle plates around but they're
by someone else ...
3/1 The Orb - already had Gerald in to mix
3/1 Weatherall - likes his bass, and being told not to play it will
annoy him
4/1 My Bloody Valentine - strange but true, an album is in the can
4/1 Spacetime Continuum - has an incredible jazz-jungle track in
his live set, lets have it out!
4/1 Adrian Sherwood - Still a huge influence but quiet of late
6/1 Chemical Brothers - anything for a laugh
6/1 Mad Professor - i didn;t like the jungle CD but new stuff is
better, keep listening
10/1 Kraftwerk - not very likely but it would be interesting to say
the least!!
20/1 Pete Namlook - would need a new color code system!
100/1 Guns & ROses - anythings possible. Ugh, what a horrible idea.
gotta go now to spin in HACKNEY home of much of this stuff in the
first place
wonder what they'll make of it all??
