jon, i've been reading your posts for over 3 years and i think i know
a bit of your tastes by now. i think i can say you're right on the
money about most stuff, but i just don't think you can sit there and
wipe jungle about just yet.

excuse me, some jungle lives up to the hype.
a lot doesn't, but we all know how the overhyped artists rarely deliver.
(aphex, fsol, hawtin, etc.) and we all know how opinions differ.
and, yeah...a lot of the jungle hype doesn't deliver! there's a lot that
is just as meaningless as hardcore could be at times.
but there's just as much meaningless idm too.

you've been slamming hardcore and jungle for years and somehow i don't
think you've ever really listened to much of it.
have you really heard those artists? why don't you list the records
you've heard by them.
i don't care if you like it or not, but stop meaninglessly slamming
the entire genre every chance you get.
you may not like the latest comp from ffrr (counterforce) but to in your
eat static review you just seem to right off the genre based on that
compilation, or law of the jungle.
to be honest, i didn't like the compilation all that much either, but
there are some great tunes on it.

hey, i'm no expert myself, i've only owned a dozen comps and maybe 50
records, but i can't dismiss a genre as crap until i've got a really
indepth listen of it. i think i've had enough of a listen to know that
the right jungle tracks aren't getting released on domestic easy to
find cd compilation. maybe someday they will. right now, import comps
and of course, the vinyl itself is where the action is at.
and the compilations dropping just doesn't even qualify as sticking
your finger in the sugar bowl and getting a taste.

it's dance music. 'nuff said. 'intelligent' jungle is just a term by
the media. the artists making the music don't call their stuff
'intelligent' (or at least i've yet to read an article where it has
happened.)
there most definately is an 'intelligent' style though, and after the
really smashed up fun of ragga jungle (nothing is funner or happier
than ragga jungle except happy hardcore) the 'intelligent' stuff comes
on with a bit more seriousness.

i've heard good jungle tracks that come from the most unlikely sources,
i have no doubts that eat static could do a good job as well cos their
stuff (for the most part) rocks.
