Well shit, I just blew another wad of cash on a lot of new releases.
Here goes my spouting off:
U.S. Domestics:
Yippee!!! Looks like some more techno is coming out from the U.S., it
seems like more than ever before.
Trybet-Mood Setter E.P.-
Me love this long time....A four tracker from some guys from Baltimore,
all cuts pretty nice but one in paticular gets me nice and wet..
."Rotation Curve" is the name and it sounds
similar to something The Source might put out with a completely fat ass
synth sound that pumps in and out that sonically slices right thru layers
of skin, fat and back hair down to me spine where it tingles and
tingles....nice drum programming as well....and top notch
production...give me more now!
V.A.-Neighbours-Sounds 003
Holy shit! I just found a killer cut on this release. It is the Freddy
Fresh cut called 5 mouths. This guy is starting to put out some good
material when he calms down and avoids the brutal hardcore techno style.
The song is vary reminiscant of a song that was on his Tajhna 2*7 on
Analog records...A throbbing 303 with a sort of electo stutter beat and
some nice analog high pitched swirls that sound like a fly buzzing next
to my ear....trust me this track kicks some serious booty....plus this comp
has some other cuts that aren't to bad.....worth the price just for the
Freddy Fresh cut..Also included is a fun Jungle type cut by Deadly Buddha
with some heavy human beatbox action...
Chito's Revenge-Oracion-Bomb Records 005
Two monster acid house tracks that hit hard but still could be considered
house or techno...Meaning a guy like Junior Vasquez could plays this for
all of the boys, or a guy like Adam X could play this at a hardcore rave
(anyone could play it)...Oracion is a nice loopy acid track that pumps
and throbs with a nice loopy tripped out voice type sound, sounds a lot
like something Random Xs on D-Jax would do. The other side is a HARD
house stormer that could be played on 45 and pass for a Gabber track, now
that I think about it a lot of Hard House nowdays sounds like gabber on
the wrong speed....It has the distorted Kick drum and all...
Dj Trance and Darwin Chamber-Indians and Aliens-Bassex 005
Another good domestic....I wonder to myself I am getting lame or is the
music getting better? A lot of the new stuff isn't blindingly original
but they know how to get a good groove and work the sounds and the
percussion....these tracks fall into that category nice percussion (a lot
of it, Tribal mixed with electro and hard house beats) this shit will
get you moving and keep you moving the length of the tune...there is a
lot of 303 and spacy keyboards to give these tracks a 6 am outdoor in the
desert watching the sun come up rave kind of feel.....Nice
Pete Namlook/Jonah Sharpe-Wechselspannung-Reflective Records
From the U.S. king of intelligent perverted freak techno and ambient:
Reflective records. I Love this label! This record is no exception to
my love....Nice record...the written side has an electronic bleep fest
with a semi-electro beat, but this beat aint a total stormer, it is a
little bit subdued but the keyboards go thru a conversation one keyboard
will say something then the other one responds, and then they all speak
at once....This sounds like an extraterrestial debate!! High
motherfuckin Tech...The other side sounds sort of similar but without the
beat....Plus those reflective labels are so fun to watch spin
around...yippee
Optic Nerve-Trilogy Waves 1,2 and 3-Direct Beat
3 separate records on the Direct Beat label from Detroit, produced by Aux
88 who have been disscussed here recently...This is some mature Detroit
techno, very smooth in places with some nice classic string sounds and
nice melodys, this will make you experience emotions, techno with
feeling....Watch these guys get picked up by someone like Warp, I make a
prediction, we shall see....Anyway very nice stuff, I like this stuff
a lot, and I will resist flaming some of the more well known Detroit
techno artists whose work pails in comparison in my opinion...
Import
Autocreation-Sauce/Gruff-Template records
I was stoked to hear this as I rate Autocreation as some of my favorite
shit...Being the trainspotting gonad I am, I noticed that Marc Van Hoen
(the sonic pervert from Locust/Seefeel) name is not listed anymore in the
credits, I figure he must have had a big impact on their sound....The
results of his depature aint too bad: this record still kicks ass!
Sauce would be my pick which is a electro distorted low end fest....I
would love to hear this on a few Sound Systems (especially at a rave in
Seattle that had 88 18" JBL's) the bass would surely make me loose bowel
control, but it would be worth it! The other side has an electronic low
beat hip hop experimental jam that sounds like something off of Gescom 2
only better.
