I got this a few days ago and I still don't get it. Coming from the standpoint of someone who has really gotten into these guys in the past but hasn't bothered to seek out any rare or non-cd material, I am pretty disappointed in the whole thing. Not only am I disappointed, but also confused. Some questions. Pardon my tone but I am quite angry as I write this. It *is* a flame, so fair warning. - By what standard are the Reload tracks Reload and the Link tracks Link, etc. It used to be you could listen to one of their songs and know what name they'd released it under without looking. I'll grant that some of this stuff is kind of old, but it still seems to render the name differentiations meaningless. - When did Reload become just Pritchard? When did Middleton become E621? So was Middleton on _Short Stories_ or not? Is Link Pritchard? Is Middleton Chameleon? Is there a logic to this or do they expect us to give a shit for the sake of giving a shit? I must admit to not caring at all until I got this record. I care now because I hate it. Used to be: You put them on and they blew you away, and who cared in what context. But what the hell is this? The material itself, much of it is old and I have no problem with that they made it at all, but the manner in which they it compiled, and the choice of WHAT to compile...well.... - Why did they put so much corny shit on here and leave of so many essentials that you can still only get on comps, etc? - Is this the full length Link album that was promised? When I wrote to them bitching about the oh-so-Dedicated _Maiden Voyage_ and said what I said about what this was to be, I was KIDDING, okay? I didn't expect them to take me seriously. I am so sorry, everyone. Why put out what is essentially a greatest hits album, and pock it with a few songs by other people? Does anyone else here find that to be quite as irritating as I do? - Electro revival bitching aside: Assuming we all want an electro revival, is Jedi Knights a serious attempt? Maiden Voyage was bad; The Theory of Evolution has more good material than those wretched little singles, but not much, and defintely not on balance. Taken as a whole, it is probably the worst thing to come out on Warp that I can think of--and that's counting Spanners. What in the hell happened, and why? And why did no one attempt to stop them before it was too late? All things considered, Sexomatic is a pretty stylish track. Ah well, another day, another fallen angel, another convoluted aesthetic collapsing under its own weightlessness. Screw it. einexile
