Correct me if I'm wrong (Frankie?), but as I understand it what 430 West is saying is that these artists (and their influences) have been doing this stuff for years, before people were calling it "electro" (and hyping it in NME), and referring to it as bass music. Calling it "techno bass" distinguishes it from, say, Miami bass, which has a lot of the same antecedents but a, um, decidedly different focus (boo-tay!). -d.w. on now: 60Hz monitor hum (yech)
