I still use Rane Mixers...The club I DJ at owns four...We have to own four just to keep one running. The others are always in the shop, most often having crossfaders replaced (and I nor the other two DJs are "breaks" DJs, so why do they seem to expire before their time?), other problems have included radio frequency pickup, improper grounding, static in the output sliders... I used to think that it was an anamoly...but this many problems with four mixers? The true joke is: Now that the club owners dumped so much money on all these mixers (originaly one for each club plus a backup, we came across the other when we aquired a closing clubs sound and lighting equipment) that they will not reinvest in something a little more reliable and a little less expensive to fix. My advice at this point is to find a used Numark...They really do last a long time. I used a DM 1500 for years, at least three nights a week and in the two years I worked on it, only serviced it twice. MTX seems to have aquired that company (or whatever) but I still trust a Numark over an MTX. Probably just superstition. MTX would probably be just fine. Stanton/Vestax makes a pretty sturdy little number right now, I might look into it to replace my home DJ Atus, which was pretty much bought just for its price. However, if anyone has a Numark DM 1500 for sale, I'm on that shit like flies. Check Peavey as well, I've used one that I really liked, but Derek would know more about that than I would...
