Coco Steel & Lovebomb. Coco is Chris Mellor, the editor of UK dance mag "DJ". The album is a mixture of NY-influenced handbag-house, and dubby and chilled ambient. I quite like it - there's some good stuff on there. It's well produced but some of the house stuff is pretty repetitive. It makes a change from the Aphex/mU-ziq style of things, but it's hardly a classic. If your tastes do extend beyond IDM/techno into the realms of house and ambient, and the price is moderate, try it. I'd give it 3/5 For guidance, I have just come up with a completely unbiased rating system :-) 0=drivel (2 Unlimited) 1=rough (B Hannant - Sculptured) 2=ok (Rhythm Invention LP) 3=cool (this one) 4=great (Hardfloor - Respect) 5=classic (Gescom EP)
